Some teeth whitening involves application of bleach solution to whiten the teeth.  This is usually in the form of a gel.  People who have extreme sensitivity with their teeth or gum diseases may not be able whiten their teeth. Gums should be treated prior to whitening is disease is present. When the gums are in good condition, the results will be better because you will be able to keep the bleaching gel on the surface of the tooth longer.   Health experts do not recommend leaving the bleaching agent on your teeth for longer than about 45 minutes.
